The president of Azerbaijan has approved the structure Intergovernmental Commission with Turkmenistan

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on Friday signed decrees and approved the structure of the Azerbaijan side of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation with Turkmenistan, - inform the Azerbaijan mass-media.

Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan long since have enjoyed the friendly good-neighbourhood relations that also are conditioned by the historical and cultural commonality y which was developed by centuries of two fraternal people. Today interstate cooperation finds new concrete supplementation for what there are favourable possibilities and prospects.

Both countries attach also paramount significance to traditional humanitarian contacts, including in the area of education, science and culture, and also interaction in the field of sports and tourism.

For two sides such vital topic, as formation of corresponding contract-legal base of five-sided cooperation of Caspian states, with the account of the Convention accepted in August, 2018 on legal status of the Caspian Sea is important.

Let's remind, on August 8, 2017 the head of Turkmenistan visited Baku with two-day official visit. During the meeting the heads of states signed a package of documents, among which - the Joint declaration on strategic partnership between the Azerbaijan Republic and Turkmenistan. The parties also signed the documents which subjects cover a wide spectrum of cooperation: on liquidation of emergency situations, trading navigation in the Caspian sea, safety, legal protection of the property of industrial targets, copyright, ecology, tax right.

Also in March, 2020 the visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan and the meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev took place.

Significant spheres of partnership, the party defined as energy, transport-communication areas, agrarian sector, chemical and textile industries, building and technological blocks.

During the meeting transport-transit issues of the East-West line, through territories of the states and use of port infrastructure were considered.

Following the results of the meeting, a large package of bilateral agreements was signed.
