Turkmenistan will propose to the UN to adopt three resolutions in the field of peace and security

Turkmenistan, during the upcoming 77th session of the UN General Assembly, initiates the adoption of three resolutions to ensure lasting and long-term peace and security. This is stated in the Priority Positions of Turkmenistan at the 77th session of the UN General Assembly: Ensuring global peace, security and sustainable development, published on the website of the country's Foreign Ministry.

The document notes that one of the conditions for achieving global peace and security, Turkmenistan considers the creation of dialogue platforms on various issues, as part of the overall process of multilateral constructive and equal communication between states. In this context, noting the significance of the resolution of the UN General Assembly adopted on July 28, 2022, proclaiming Central Asia the Zone of Peace, Trust and Cooperation, Turkmenistan submits a proposal to the UN General Assembly to declare 2025 the Year of Peace and Trust.

Giving an important role in ensuring peace and security to the tools of preventive diplomacy, and considering that December 2022 marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, Turkmenistan will submit a draft resolution on the role of the Center to the General Assembly. The project will reflect the significant events of recent years, including the proclamation of the Zone of Peace, Trust and Cooperation in Central Asia.

Also, promoting the philosophy of trust-based dialogue in international relations, Turkmenistan intends to initiate the development of a draft resolution of the UN General Assembly "Dialogue is a guarantee of peace." According to Ashgabat, the adoption of such a document will confirm the fundamental and unequivocal commitment of all UN member states to a peaceful, negotiated method of resolving conflict situations, no matter how difficult they may seem.
