The museums of Turkmenistan hold various events to promote the cultural heritage of the people, of which the Turkmen art of embroidery is an integral part.

This needlework, passed down from generation to generation, is a vivid embodiment of fine artistic taste, a sense of ornamental and colour harmony, and the inexhaustible imagination of Turkmen craftsmen. The ornaments of the national embroidery reflect important symbols associated with the history, nature and traditions of the people.

A meeting entitled «Zenan mährinden dörän nepislikler» was dedicated to the ancient and living art of embroidery, organized recently by the Arkadag Historical Museum in cooperation with the city branches of trade unions and the Union of Women of Turkmenistan. The event was attended by resident of Arkadag Ogulbagt Hudaynazarova, deputy director of the local history museum Kakilik Ovezberdiyeva, teacher of the Children's Art school named after Shukur Bagshy in Arkadag Maya Sahadova, teacher of specialized secondary school №. 2 Enar Agayeva.

They talked about the value of the national heritage passed down from generation to generation, about the works that are being carried out in the museum to preserve and promote it, about how the ancient art of Turkmen embroidery is developing in our time. Expressing their pride that the art born of the spiritual beauty and skillful hands of a Turkmen woman is recognized as the cultural heritage of mankind, the participants of the meeting noted that the national art of embroidery is included in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
