On February 5, 2025, at the initiative of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with the International Institute of Central Asia (IICA), a round table was held on the topic «International Year of Peace and Trust: Turkmenistan’s Contribution to Global and Regional Cooperation». The round table, held in a hybrid format, continued over two sessions.

The event was attended by the heads of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries under the Ministry of Culture, the Republican Turkmen Cultural Centre, the International Institute of Central Asia, heads and representatives of the diplomatic corps, mass media and the Turkmen diaspora, as well as Turkmen students.

In his speech, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.Meredov placed special emphasis on the Concept of the Activities and priorities of Turkmenistan within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust, which sets out the country’s views on the current problems of the world community, and also emphasized the need to consolidate the efforts of states through constructive dialogue.

In this context, it was noted that the unanimous adoption of the UN General Assembly Resolution declaring 2025 the «International Year of Peace and Trust» at the initiative of Turkmenistan, indicates that Turkmenistan is an active and responsible participant in the world community, making a significant contribution to the formation and implementation of the global and regional agenda in the field of security, cooperation and development.
