Speaking at the plenary session of the Turkmenistan Investment Promotion Forum (TEIF 2025) in Kuala Lumpur, PETRONAS President and CEO Tengku Muhammad Taufik highlighted the Malaysian oil and gas company’s long-standing and successful partnership with Turkmenistan.
He emphasised that PETRONAS is honoured to be part of this important dialogue being held in Kuala Lumpur today, which symbolises the strong ties between the two countries and their shared aspiration for development.
Tengku Taufik highlighted Turkmenistan’s historic role as a vital link along the Silk Road that connected East and West and fuelled economic and technological growth. In the 21st century, thanks to its rich natural resources and a well-thought-out strategy to diversify its economy, the country is reasserting itself as a key player in the global energy arena.
Apart from economic ties, the PETRONAS CEO highlighted the positive impact of cooperation in the social sphere, including educational programmes for Turkmen students in Malaysia. He expressed confidence that the strategic investments and hosting of TEIF 2025 in Malaysia will serve as a powerful impetus for further development of the partnership and will attract the attention of the world community to the successful example of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
