A delegation of Turkmenistan consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, as well as the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan is on a visit to the Republic of Belarus. The visit was organized within the framework of the project "Platform for the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, Phase III", which is being implemented by the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Program.
During the visit, the delegation held a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, during which they discussed the formation and functioning of the national architecture for achieving the SDGs, as well as the exchange of experience in preparing voluntary national reviews of progress in implementing the 2030 Agenda.
The meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Economy and the Economic Research Institute allowed the delegation to get acquainted with the specifics of the development and implementation of the national strategy for sustainable development of Belarus, as well as regional and sectoral strategies. Issues of forecasting, monitoring and evaluation of strategic documents, also interagency cooperation were discussed.
During the visit, meetings are planned with representatives of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus on the issues of maintaining and managing national statistics in the context of SDG indicators. The delegation will also visit the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, as well as the Office of the UN Global Compact Network in Belarus, where they will discuss the practices of interaction between government and business in the implementation of the sustainable development agenda.
The results of the visit will serve to strengthen the dialogue and develop cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus in the context of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and implementing the 2030 Agenda.
