Representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan took part in a regional event that was held recently in Chisinau. The event was organized within the framework of the "Ready4Trade Central Asia" project, which is implemented by the International Trade Centre with the support of the European Union. The Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova assisted in organizing the event.

The regional event, held in the format of the Peer Learning Initiative, also included representatives from the customs authorities and private sectors of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as Moldova and Turkiye.

Participants familiarized themselves with advanced practices in engaging with foreign economic activity participants, studied the specifics of implementing Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programs, which play an important role in simplifying international trade and increasing the efficiency of customs procedures. Issues related to the modernization of customs administration and the creation of favorable business conditions to expand private sector participation in AEO programs were also discussed.

A separate session was dedicated to the experience of the Republic of Moldova in implementing the AEO program, featuring Moldovan companies holding AEO certificates and the country’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
