On International neutrality day, 231 convicted citizens were pardoned in Turkmenistan

On the eve of an important national and public holiday —International neutrality day, celebrated on the 12th of December President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree pardoning 231 convicted citizens.

This noble act took place during an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the 6th of December. The meeting was attended by members of the government, heads of diplomatic missions and consular offices of Turkmenistan abroad, and representatives of the country to international organisations.

Opening the meeting, the head of state emphasised that pardons in honour of International neutrality day are a long-standing and noble tradition. This action is aimed at those citizens who have sincerely repented of their crimes and regret their actions, offering them a chance to reform and return to normal life.

Secretary of the State Security Council and chairman of the commission on citizenship and Pardons under the President of Turkmenistan, B. Gundogdyyev, reported on the results of the work carried out to prepare proposals for pardoning convicted persons.

After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the corresponding decree. The head of state instructed the Commission Chairman, together with the heads of law enforcement agencies, to take all necessary measures to ensure that the released citizens can return to their families as soon as possible.

The President of Turkmenistan wished the pardoned to work conscientiously and serve their homeland, enjoying the fruits of their honest labour.

In this way, Turkmenistan has once again confirmed its commitment to the principles of humanism and compassion, providing a chance for a new life to hundreds of its citizens.
