Today has been held the regular meeting of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan on the issues of preparation for the upcoming elections of members of Gengshey and deputies of the Mejlis in two constituencies: № 26 Kaahkinskiy etrap of Akhal velayat and № 99 of Mary as a replacement of the retired parliamentarians. It was attended by members of the Central Election Commission, representatives of the working groups established by the Central Election Commission, national observers and the media.
During the meeting was provided information by managers of velayat election commissions to prepare for the coming social and political action. It was noted that 6100 was created constituencies for the election of members of the Gengeshey in the territories of towns in etraps, towns, gengeshliks. In the above formulations of election commissions were included workers in various sectors of national economy, education and health, science and culture, made by public organizations and associations, as well as citizens' groups.
On July 5th, 2012 begins the nomination of candidates to the deputies of the Mejlis and gengeshes in two constituencies. The total number of Gengeshey (representative bodies of the people's government in the territories of towns and villages in the districts) will be 646.
Upon completion of registration in the velayat district election commissions will start the campaign. All applicants are granted equal rights and opportunities to submit their proposals the electorate associated with the implementation of field-scale development programs, and first of all, the National Programme on the social and living conditions in villages, towns, cities, etrap and regional centers of the period to 2020.
In turn, voters will be entitled to a free and full discussion of political, business and personal qualities of candidates and campaign for or against them at meetings and in the media. This will allow the electorate to opt for the most deserving candidates for the popular mandate since they will be familiarized with each candidate and assessed the status of his election program.
During the meeting was reported by the members of the Central Election Commission on the outcome of a series of training seminars for members of district election commissions to organized preparation for the elections, which gave participants the opportunity to more fully acquainted with the changes in the national election legislation, namely the new Law "On Elections of the members Khalk Maslakhaty and Gengeshey", with their official duties and the arrangements for the forthcoming elections.
During the meeting also was reported by the national observers for the Democratic Party, Trade Unions, Women's Union and Youth Organization of Turkmenistan named after Makhtumkuli which will monitor the upcoming campaign, the ongoing work.
