The district election commissions have started the procedure for registration of candidates for members of the Gengeshi which are the representative of local government elections to be held on August 19. After registration candidates as well as their agents commence agitation through conventions and meetings with the electorate as well as through the media.

At one place in almost all districts are nominated for multiple candidates which is accordance to the principles of elections and the alternative is yet another clear indication of the deepening of democratic processes in independent neutral Turkmenistan. Openness and fairness of the electoral process will contribute to and participation in national observers.

At present all the polling stations are equipped with appropriate office equipment, visual information materials for the elections, the required number there is a reference, methodical and educational literature, brochures with texts of legislation, instructions, regulations and other materials, which provides the necessary information about the current socio-political campaign.

Information about the registered candidates, time and place of meetings with voters during which they can more fully acquainted with the electoral programs of candidates will be published in the local press.
