From the 8th to 14th of June, specialists from the Renewable energy research and Production centre of the State energy institute of Turkmenistan are in Uzbekistan to participate in an international program within the framework of the Green Central Asia regional initiative and the European Union for the Green Development of Turkmenistan: Political Dialogue and Climate Action for 2024-2029 project, implemented by the European Union and The German society for International cooperation (GIZ).

The main purpose of the trip is to study international experience in ensuring regional water, energy and environmental sustainability, introducing alternative energy sources and innovative biosystems into production.

During the trip to the city of Nukus, the Turkmen delegation met with specialists from the Karakalpakstan branch of the scientific research institute of Irrigation and Water Problems, as well as the «Academy of young scientists». During the meeting, the delegates studied the methods of effective operation of innovative ecological systems, bioplatforms for natural drainage water treatment and water pumping stations powered by solar panels and designed for sustainable irrigation. In the building of the Academy of sciences of Uzbekistan, they also got acquainted in detail with the production conditions and laboratory work on the cultivation of chlorella microalgae, one of the promising raw materials for bioenergy and biotechnology.

The program of the visit includes meetings of Turkmen representatives with the leadership of the International innovation centre of the Aral sea region, visits to test sites for intensive gardening and participation in scientific seminars in Tashkent. Within the framework of the seminars, it is planned to study issues in the field of reducing soil salinity, water-saving technologies, and rapid assessment of soil electrical conductivity. A visit to the «Master fruit» farm in the Syrderya region is also planned, where Turkmen delegates will get acquainted in detail with the practical application of modern agrophotovoltaic systems that simultaneously use one piece of land for agriculture and solar energy generation.

The participation of representatives of Turkmenistan in this international program will make a significant contribution to the ongoing work on the development of alternative energy, «green economy» and scientific and innovative technologies in the country. In addition, the trip will be another important step in strengthening regional scientific cooperation and ensuring environmental sustainability.
