The entrance examinations for the country’s higher education institutions have officially begun today as part of Turkmenistan’s ongoing 2026 admission campaign.

The admission plan for Turkmenistan’s universities for the 2026 academic year was approved by the relevant Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, signed on July 10 during an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.

As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized during the meeting, the country’s universities should admit talented and the most deserving representatives of the younger generation, while the entrance examinations must be conducted in an organized and fair manner with public oversight ensured.

According to the schedule, applications from prospective students were accepted from July 13 to July 26. The next stage of the campaign—entrance examinations and the enrollment of future first-year students—is being conducted at the locations of Turkmenistan’s higher education institutions. In accordance with the approved timetable, the entrance examinations will be held within the designated timeframes in succession for applicants from Ashgabat, Arkadag, and the country’s five velayats. All the necessary conditions have been created to ensure that the examinations are conducted in a highly organized and fair manner.

This year, more than 18,000 young people will be admitted to the country’s universities, which is 1,239 more students than last year. The country’s higher education institutions offer applicants a wide range of specialties and fields of study, the list of which has traditionally been expanded this year. In the new academic year, the country’s universities will begin training specialists in 20 new fields launched under specialist, bachelor's, and master's degree programs.

The introduction of new specialties and fields of study fully meets the needs of the national economy and the key objectives of Turkmenistan’s education system in training highly qualified and in-demand specialists.

The 2026 admission campaign will continue across the country until August 24.
