From the 19th of July to 1st of August, French language teachers from higher education institutions in Turkmenistan are completing an internship at the «Francophonie» language education centre, located in the picturesque French city of Nice.
The event for teachers was organised within the framework of the Fonds Équipe France program of the French Ministry for Europe and foreign affairs with the support of the French Institute in Turkmenistan.
The teaching internship, or «Summer university» as it is called by representatives of the «Francophonie» language centre, brought together French teachers from dozens of countries.
The Turkmen delegation included four French language teachers from two universities in Turkmenistan: one teacher from Turkmen state university named after Magtymguly and three teachers from the Turkmen national institute of world languages named after Dovletmammet Azady.
Over the course of two weeks, participants undergo an intensive program that combines a theoretical course and practical workshops on methods of teaching French as a foreign language. These classes allow students to master modern pedagogical approaches and innovative teaching methods, and to improve and expand their professional competencies.
The program also includes open-air lectures - informative cultural and educational excursions during which teachers acquire new knowledge and develop professional skills, become acquainted with national traditions, cultural heritage and the history of France through complete immersion in the linguistic and cultural environment. In addition, the classes facilitate the exchange of experience with teachers from different countries and the development of professional and intercultural communication.
The participation of Turkmen teachers in advanced training courses provides an excellent opportunity to gain advanced teaching experience, which will allow them to further impart to students a modern and vibrant understanding of the French language and culture, enrich the quality of French language teaching and the training of future specialists in universities in Turkmenistan.
The internship for Turkmen teachers in Nice was first organised in the summer of 2025, when four more French teachers from Turkmenistan completed similar training. The successful launch of the project, marking the 30th anniversary of the teaching of French in Turkmenistan, marked another important step in the development of bilateral relations.
This project reflects shared commitment of the two countries to strengthening humanitarian ties, improving the teaching and popularisation of the French language in Turkmenistan, and underscores the importance our country places on cultural exchange and the ongoing development of scientific, educational, friendly, and open dialogue with France and other countries.
