The 27th International Festival of Youth Symphony Orchestras, Young Euro Classic, is taking place in Berlin. It is one of the world’s largest cultural events, showcasing the creativity of young musicians on the international stage.
On August 9, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan, conducted by Honored Artist of Turkmenistan and conductor Rasul Klychev, presented a rich musical program on the stage of the Konzerthaus. It included the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra by Turkmen classical composer Chary Nurymov, Veli Mukhatov’s symphonic work “Meniň Watanym” (“My Motherland”), the elegant symphonic pictures “Türkmenistan” by Nury Halmamedov, as well as legendary melodies from the films “The Decisive Step” and “Keçpelek.”
Alongside works by Turkmen classical composers, the orchestra also performed contemporary compositions by foreign authors — a concerto by American composer Aidan Gold for percussion and orchestra “Songs from Turkmenistan” and the work of French composer Pierre Thilloy, “Diable qui danse” (“Dancing Spirit”), inspired by the composer’s trip to Turkmenistan and the unique sound of Turkmen national instruments. The musicians also presented the famous “Danzón No. 2” by Mexican composer Arturo Márquez.
The European audience greeted the performance of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan with enthusiastic ovations. In addition to the talented performance, the foreign press noted the national costumes of the young female members of the orchestra, who appeared in elegant emerald-green dresses inspired by traditional Turkmen attire. Thus, both the musical and visual components of the concert emphasized the harmonious national character of the program.
At the conclusion of the concert, the festival organizers and representatives of the organizing committee expressed their interest in further cooperation, noting that the audience’s prolonged applause was a sign of the highest recognition of Turkmen musical art.
The International Festival of Youth Symphonic Orchestras, Young Euro Classic, is being held in the German capital from July 31 to August 16. Every summer, the festival brings together talented performers from Europe, Asia, America and other parts of the world.
This year, the event is being attended by youth symphony orchestras from Germany, Austria, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Northern Ireland, Luxembourg, Estonia, Ukraine, Türkiye, the United States, China, India, and Turkmenistan, as well as folk-instrument orchestras from Tajikistan, Vietnam, Argentina, Morocco, and Egypt.
The performance of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan at the Young Euro Classic festival became a significant milestone in the artistic development of the young musicians. Participation in the event made it possible to broaden the horizons of cultural cooperation and strengthen the standing of the national music school within the international professional community.
