Another meeting of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan has been held re the issues of preparation for the upcoming elections of members and deputies of the Mejlis gengeshes in two constituencies № 26 Kaahka etrap of Akhal velayat and № 99 of Mary. It was held to organize replacement of the retired parliamentarians. The meeting was attended by members of the Central Election Commission representatives of the working groups established by the Central Election Commission, the staff of the CEC, national observers and the media.
According to the national electoral legislation on the eve of a crucial stage ended with the election campaign deployed throughout the upcoming August 19 elections, nomination and registration of candidates for the gengeshes and members of the National Parliament in two constituencies. As noted in the reports of heads of velayat election commissions, to date, at 6100 mandates gengesh members across the country registered 12,309 candidates, including the 1049 electoral districts of the Akhal velayat - 2134, for 407 constituencies in the Balkan velayat - 886 of 1412 constituencies Dashoguz velayat - in 2824, the 1446 electoral districts Lebap velayat - 2893, 1786 by constituencies Mary Velayat - 3572. As candidates for deputies of the Mejlis of the mandate constituency № 26 Kaahka etrap of Akhal velayat and № 99 of Mary recorded in two of the candidate. Among the candidates in the above-mentioned bodies of local self-government and national parliament - agricultural workers, representatives of education, science and culture, economic and financial sector, workers health and welfare of different sectors of the economy: industry, construction and communications. Al ot of them are like public associations like the Democratic Party, trade unions, youth and women's organizations. This ensures effective participation of civil society in addressing critical issues of the people.

In accordance with Article 36 of the Law of Turkmenistan "On election of members of people's councils and gengeshes" all candidates and their agents, Turkmen citizens, political parties, public associations are accorded equal rights during the campaign - speeches at election meetings, conferences and meetings, which are now being everywhere, and in the media. The organization of such meetings is vested in the Electoral Commission in conjunction with relevant local authorities and local self-government, heads of enterprises, institutions and other structures.
As noted at the meeting at present time among the major activities under the CEC schedule, election commission give the necessary advice on all matters of interest to people, explaining to them the advantages of the new electoral system, implemented in order to further democratization of the modern Turkmen society, the strengthening of the principles in the state of true democracy.
During the session the Central Election Commission have been considered and other arrangements for the relevant decisions were adopted.
