The Central Commission for Elections and Referenda held a regular meeting in the Turkmen capital. The heads of diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan in foreign countries, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital to participate in the celebrations in honour of the 20th anniversary of independence, were invited to take part in the meeting.
The meeting agenda focused on the opening of polling stations at the diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan in foreign countries where our citizens live and work and organization of work of these stations during the presidential election. The meeting participants adopted the decision to open 29 polling stations in foreign countries and specify priority tasks for divisional election committees members.
During the meeting the heads of diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan were informed in detail of the large-scale activities carried out by the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda at the current stage and on the procedures of the election campaign, where the essential success factors was the high level of organisation and strict compliance with current electoral law of Turkmenistan which provides all citizens who has the right to vote with an opportunity to exercise it. Particular attention was paid to the measure to be taken to inform young Turkmen citizens who study abroad of these issues.
The participants discussed a number of other issues related to the election campaign. Summing up the meeting, the Central Commission called all participants of an election process upon to use all effort to hold the presidential election in a proper and timely manner that would mark the triumph of democracy in the modern Turkmen society and sovereignty of the people as consistent with the age-old national traditions.
