President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council, during which a number of pressing issues concerning the country’s state affairs were considered.

Opening the meeting, the Head of State emphasised that Turkmenistan regularly carries out noble acts of pardoning persons convicted of crimes who sincerely repent their actions.

Secretary of the State Security Council and Chairman of the Commission B. Gundogdyev reported on the results of the work of the Commission on Preparing Proposals on Citizenship and Pardons, established in connection with the 35th anniversary of the Independence of the Motherland.

Following the report, the President of Turkmenistan signed a Decree pardoning 1,054 convicted citizens of the country.

The Head of State instructed the Secretary of the State Security Council and the Minister of Defence, together with the heads of law enforcement agencies, to carry out all necessary work in the near future to release the pardoned persons from places of detention and return them to their families.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished the pardoned citizens, through conscientious work and sincere service to the Motherland, to contribute to the prosperity of the country.
