Autumn seasonal work is in full swing for specialists at the Dashoguz velayat forestry department. One of the important areas of work these days is the collection of seeds from tree and shrub species. Particular attention is paid here to this afforestation activity, as it is of great importance for the subsequent restoration and expansion of green belt of the region.

To date, foresters have already collected 50 kilograms of thuja seeds, 25 kg of ash seeds, 30 kg of mulberry seeds, 5 kg of apple seeds, 45 kg of apricot seeds, and a large quantity of seeds from various other types of fruit and ornamental trees and shrubs.

It is noteworthy that, for the first time this season, Paulownia seeds were collected. This indicates that the tree, thanks to its undemanding nature and resilience to local weather and climatic conditions, is gradually becoming established in the northern region of the country. A little later, seeds of saxaul and gandym will be collected in the velayat.

The collected seeds will serve as reproductive material for the further cultivation of plants in the nurseries of the farm, which span a total area of tens of hectares. The work carried out by the staff of the velayat forestry department including systematic afforestation and reforestation, the cultivation of coniferous, desert, fruit-bearing, and ornamental tree species, and the provision of planting stock is part of the comprehensive measures being implemented nationwide under the National forestry program for 2026-2030.

A thorough analysis of the local ecosystem contributes to improving the local climate and preserving biodiversity.
