Presentation of the book «Watanyn wepaly ogly. Malikguly aganyn tutus omrunin isi» («True son of Motherland. Life work of Malikguly aga.») devoted to the 80th birthday of father of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and published by the Turkmen State publishing service was held in the conference hall of the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly. This scientific-documentary publication in Turkmen and Russian languages was prepared for printing by specialists of the Archival Fund of the President of Turkmenistan.
Members of the government, deputies of the national parliament, and representatives of social organizations, honorable elders, outstanding scientists and political scientists, workers of culture, journalists as well as teachers and students of the higher educational establishments of the country took part in the presentation.
The book is opened with a part “President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov about his parents”. Words of the leader of the nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov full of deep filial gratitude to father and mother for good, attention and assistance: “I am very grateful to my parents for worthy upbringing” became the epigraph of publication.
On the basis of biographical and archival data, the new book tells about life and activity of Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov, whose name is well-known in our country. Teacher by vocation, regular officer and historian- methodologist passed significant and glorious path from teacher of rural school up to the high officer’s rank.
As father of six children, Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov exerted decisive influence on formation of their characters. Together with wife Ogulnabat, he brought up them in best traditions of Turkmen family. Deep wisdom and instructiveness of precepts of parents also served as high moral support in the course of life of young Gurbanguly – future head of Turkmen state.
Publication contains rich illustrative material attached to separate chapters of the book as well as placed in the final chapter “Archival documents and photographs”.
