A regular meeting dedicated to the 2012 population and housing census of Turkmenistan took part in the State Committee for Statistics of Turkmenistan. The representatives of various ministries, departments, khyakimliks of velayats and Ashgabat, public organizations as well as journalists took part in the meeting.
The population and housing census of Turkmenistan will take on December 15-26, 2012. Last time this event was held in Turkmenistan in 1995.
During the meeting it was reported on the work on the preparation for the complete census of population and housing census of Turkmenistan done within the first six months of the current year as well as the informative and explanatory work among the local population in this area. It was noted that active cooperation with mass media, including print media, radio and television plays an important role in this sphere.
Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the use of the most advanced informative and communication technologies as well as the study of the best international experience with the aim to ensure the most efficient organization of this significant social and political campaign.
