The Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan announced the results of the elections to Gengesh and members of the national parliament in two constituencies, which took place in all regions of the country in an atmosphere of openness, transparency and on a wide alternative basis on August 20.

According to the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan elections to the local self-government authorities are declared valid. Thus, of 12,309 candidates nominated for elections, 6,099 Gengesh members were elected. Two or more candidates were nominated to each mandate. For example, the second round of balloting will be held in electoral district No. 2 in Garagach Gengeshlik in Etrek Etrap, Balkan Velayat, where no one of three nominated candidates received the required number of votes. In this regard, in accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan "On Elections to Halk Maslakhaty and Gengesh", fresh voting will take place there.

The elections to the National Parliament held in two constituencies – No. 26 in Kaahka Etrap in Ahal Velayat and No. 99 in Mary, Mary Velayat were also declared to be valid. A.Godjenov and A.Ybytov were elected the deputies of the Mejlis.
