Three-day Kurban bayramy celebrations have launched throughout Turkmenistan. The festive service – bayram namaz has been hold at all mosques in the capital and velayats today in the morning. The versatile programme of cultural events and festivities in honour of Kurban bayramy was prepared. Concerts and festive activities are taking place everywhere – in parks, at cultural and recreation centres in towns and villages of the country. Many people gather together these days near the high swings which are an essential attribute of the Kurban bayramy celebrations typical of only the Turkmen people among the other Muslim peoples. This fascinating ritual adds unique national colours to this wonderful holiday. It is popular belief that those swinging upwards to the sky are cleansed of their sins.


Popular singers, folk and dance groups are presenting bright performances on the stages installed near the swings.

Following the tradition, people are visiting their relatives, friends and neighbours, receiving guests and giving sadaqahs, sachaks are being laid in every home and the prayers in praise of the Almighty and in praise of a peaceful and happy life are being offered up these days.
