The meeting of the Coordination Council of Turkmenistan on the national water policy took place in the Turkmen capital.
The representative of the Ministry of Water Industry of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Nature Protection of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy and Development, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, the Ministry of Communal Services of Turkmenistan, the Turkmengeologiya State Corporation, the National Committee for Hydrometeorology under the Cabinet of Minister of Turkmenistan, the Fish Industry Committee as well as representatives and experts of the structural subdivisions of international organisations, including the UN, the EU, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, German Society for International Cooperation took place in the meeting.
A number of urgent issues in this sphere, in particular such areas as efficient water use, scientifically based increase of productivity of the water industry of the country to satisfy the needs of the agro-industrial complex of the country, production and social spheres were discussed during the meeting. Particular attention was paid to the measures taken to enhance the international cooperation in this sphere, in particular with the UN European Economic Commission, the projects on coordinated management of water resources and environmental protection in Central Asia and Turkmenistan as well as introduction of the most advanced technologies and experience in this sphere.
