Two-day regional seminar on familiarization with major goals and tasks of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) – “Access RH” started in Ashgabat. Members of the representative delegations from Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Uzbekistan, Republic of Tajikistan, officials and leading specialists of healthcare sphere of our country as well as experts of UNFPA took part in the work of the forum. It was organized by the Ministry of Health and Medical industry of Turkmenistan and Regional office of UNFPA for the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Purpose of the seminar is improvement of knowledge on use of new web portal “Access RH”, keeping information about reproductive health-related goods and rendering online services on their purchase.
As is known, the issues of population and development, particularly reproductive health, are ranked among priorities of the Action Program adopted at the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) held in Cairo in 1994. Major tasks of this Program coincide with the UN Millennium Development Goals and key trends of “Health” State Program worked out in direct participation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
All-round concern about health and welfare of people is important aspect of the policy, being pursued in Turkmenistan under leadership of the head of state. In close cooperation with international partners, the country successfully realizes a whole series of national programs in the field of public health, including on reproductive health protection. Representative office of UNFPA in Turkmenistan is one of the principal partners of the Turkmen physicians in this trend.
In the course of the forum, the representatives from countries of the Central Asia were familiarized with new approaches on purchase of reproductive health commodities and discussed the ways for synchronization of online service “Access RH” with state regulation. As it was noted, unique project “Access RH” is urged to promote the realization of the national programs and plans of the countries of the region in this sphere, particularly, expansion of access to services and reproductive health commodities for population.
Within the framework of view exchange, participants of the seminar unanimously declared for continuation of fruitful contacts, contributing to the development of medical science, wide exchange of experience in improvement of healthcare system.
