The festivities on occasion of the Harvest Day that is traditionally celebrated on the last Sunday of November took place in the country. The main venue for the celebrations was the Ashgabat Hippodrome, where the ceremony of awarding the main heroes of the holiday – best farmers, machine operators, scientists, breeders and other specialists of the agro-industrial complex, who made a significant contribution to development of the cotton growing industry of Turkmenistan, took place.
Among the participants of the celebrations were the cabinet ministers, heads of Mejlis, diplomatic representations and missions accredited in Turkmenistan, the representatives of ministries and departments, public organisations, journalists, workers of culture and art, the elders, representatives of Ashgabat and Velayat Khyakimliks, students, numerous citizens of Ashgabat and guests to the Turkmen capital.
The guests to the celebrations visited the festive exhibition showcasing the achievements of the agricultural sector and processing industry of Turkmenistan.
A wonderful Ahalteke horse was presented to the President of Turkmenistan on behalf of the specialists of the agro-industrial complex.
The ceremony of awarding valuable presents to best specialists from all regions of the country, who made an outstanding contribution to development of the agro-industrial complex of the country, on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan took place within the framework of the festive events. The prizes were awarded to leading farmers, machine operators and drivers, winners of the traditional contest announced with assistance of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan during the cotton harvesting campaign.
The masters of culture and art performed a big concert and festive horse racing dedicated to the remarkable date took place at the hippodrome.
In the afternoon the II International Cotton Fair closed at the Sergi Köşgi Exhibition Centre. In the evening the festive events dedicated to the Harvest Day continued with various concert programmes in the Turkmen capital and all regions of the country.
