Over a dozen new social and economic facilities, including a secondary school, kindergarten, centre of culture, recreation park, railway station, postal telegraph office with automatic telephone system, health centre with a pharmacy, trading centre, cattle-breeding production procurement centre and a hotel were opened in the Belek settlement in Turkmenbashi Etrap, Balkan Velayat.

The heads of the Mejlis, Velayat and Etrap Khyakims, representatives of public organisations, the elders, youth and other guests attended the solemn ceremonies of opening of new facilities.

During the trip to the western region of the country in January 2011, the Turkmen leader visited the Belek settlement. Talking to local citizens, the Turkmen leader asked them about their everyday concerns, living and working conditions, health and leisure time of children and provision of food products. During the meeting in the gengeshlik, the President of Turkmenistan approved the plan for further development of the settlement, construction of a complex of facilities satisfying the modern requirements, laying engeneering communication networks and improvement of streets. Today, Belek has radically changed.
