The festive events dedicated to the Neutrality Day widely celebrated in the country on December 12 started on the square at the Neutrality Monument, the symbol of Turkmenistan’s adherence to the ideals of peace and creation.
The cabinet ministers, heads of the Mejlis, the high-ranking officials of ministries and departments, the heads of diplomatic representations and missions accredited to Turkmenistan, Turkmen ambassadors to foreign states, foreign guests, representatives of public organisations and journalists gathered together at the magnificent monument towering in the picturesque backdrop of the Kopetdag Mountains in the morning. The elders and young citizens of Turkmenistan participated in the ceremony.
17 years ago the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted the Resolution “Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan” – an unprecedented, unique document, the first one of this kind in the practice of the Community of Nations.
On that day the festive celebrations dedicated to the Neutrality Day were organized throughout the country.
