Two-day training seminar started its work in the conference hall of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan. It is aimed at improvement of potential of the international partnership with Commission of Codex Alimentarius. The membership in this Commission is a new effective step for our country in the field of public health protection of Turkmenistan as well as development of international trade-economic cooperation.
As the State news agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) informs, the experts of Commission of Codex Alimentarius – acting consultant of the European Regional Bureau of World Health Organization Dr. Jeronimas Maskelunas and specialist for foodstuff safety and consumer protection of the Regional Office of Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations Dr. Eleanor Duppui arrived in Ashgabat to hold the introductory meetings with the representatives of concerned ministries and departments, methodological consultations and training seminars.
Taking into account multiple-aspect of solution of the issues connected with the problem of food security, the representatives of several ministries and departments of the country, mass media were invited for participation in the training seminar organized by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.
The seminar participants familiarized with the structure and activity of Commission of Codex Alimentarius, its significance in the international foodstuff trade and approaches to harmonization of food law as well as essential documents for work with the Commission.
Turkmenistan became the 185th member of Codex Alimentarius. Membership in Codex Alimentarius is important for Turkmenistan in terms of active access of our country to the international trade space as well as in the context of intentions of the Turkmen state to enter into World Health Organization.
