In the late seventies of the last century, an article “Evidence number 1” was published in the newspaper “Evening Ashgabat”. It has the following lines: “In the tea house, Gusein Kuli learned that the registry office is opened in the city. That time, in 1927, people still had to get used to new names. Now, there was one more.”
The event was arranged solemnly. Phaethon with Gusein Kuli and a baby in arms slowly proceeded through streets of the city towards the registry office. Employee of the registry office cordially shook hands of happy father, admired plump-cheeked little boy and stamped on the form. There was a record on the place, where child's father has to sign: Guseinov is illiterate...
In brief, it is a story of emergence of this document: “Statement of the birth No 1 of male child. Abdulla Guseinov. Poltoratsk. May 15, 1926”. It was this little boy, who was the hero of this article.
Now, he is almost 87 years old, but he looks much younger. Outstanding photographer of our country, veteran of Great Patriotic War, master, whose life is so full as his photographs, colorful frames - Abdulla Guseinov doesn't look a minute older than eighty.

But if the mentioned names embody the different epochs, the name Abdullah Guseinov magnificently integrates different periods of Turkmen photography and photojournalism. Abdullah Guseinov – “living classic” of the Turkmen photography – walked with a heavy saddlebag on his shoulder along the dunes of Karakum desert, fields of different provinces, climbed the highest Kopetdag mountains, met the sunrise in the dust of Shagal, where it was started the construction of the present Seydi town, breathlessly took a picture of pupils with the teachers ... And in intervals between photography, he spoke with amateur photographers, organized exhibitions of his photographs, as front-line soldier, he took part in solemn events and meetings.
And therefore, everything done by A.Guseinov, going in full marching order to his ninetieth birthday, is one of the best pages in the history of the Turkmen photography. It turns out that owing to camera lens, it is possible to see differently the world around us, the world in all its complexity, festivity and colors ... Of course, all these can be reproduced if a man, who got used to command the camera, is talented. Abdulla Guseinov is talented and diligent. It expresses the connection of human being with nature, their indissoluble unity. This picture was presented in 1973 at all-USSR Exhibition of art photography, where it won the bronze medal.
