The IV meeting of the Trade Unions of Turkmenistan taken place in Ashgabat brought together the heads of sectoral and velayat trade unions, active members of enterprises, representatives of public organizations of the country. The meeting agenda included discussion of key tasks and identification of main areas of work for the near future as well as a number of organizational issues.

In their reports, the National Centre of Trade Unions and the Central Trade Unions Auditing Committee summed the work done.

Particular attention was paid to the issues of increasing the role of the trade unions in the life of the country and people and enhancing the work of professional organizations. Speaking about the significance of improving the forms and methods of their work, the meeting participants underlined the necessity of continuing the work on increasing the legal culture of citizens, protecting their interests and rights, creating favourable conditions for work. The draft Resolution of the IV meeting of the Trade Unions of Turkmenistan defining the strategy for further work of the public organization for the near future was unanimously adopted by the meeting participants.

Among the issues included to the meeting agenda was election of new membership of the National Trade Unions Centre. Head of the organization T. Muhammedova was relieved of the position. M. Yazmuhammedova was elected the Chairperson of the National Centre of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan.

A number of other organizational issues were considered and relevant decisions were adopted during the meeting.
