Today, the Women's Union includes over 730,000 members; women constitute 46 percent of the total number of employees at institutions and enterprises in the country.
The Congress delegates approved the Women's Union Programme of Action for 2013-2018 that set forth priority short-term objectives of women's organisations of the country.
The major objectives of activities included the strengthening of the institution of family, protection of maternity and childhood, enhancement of women's labour and public activity and their intellectual potential as well as the upbringing of the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism, the high national spiritual and moral values and the traditions of the Turkmen nation.
The Congress participants approved the new Charter of the Women's Council of Turkmenistan with the amendments and additions and the Regulations on the Central Audit Commission. New members of the Central Council and the Central Audit Commission were elected. M. Yazmuhammedova was elected unanimously Chairperson of the Central Council of the Women's Council.
The ceremony of awarding our best compatriots - the mothers who received the honorary title Ene Myahri in accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan in token of the profound respect for the outstanding services in bringing up the younger generation who will ensure the happy future of the Motherland was held in the framework of the Congress.
