International educational forum closed in the Turkmen capital

The International Exhibition on the Education in the Epoch of Great Revival and the conference closed in Ashgabat. The large-scale forum was organized by the Ministry of Education and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.

The representatives of more than 40 foreign companies, international organisations, research and educational centres and higher educational institutions from different countries of the world participated in the exhibition that illustrated the keen interest of the world community in our country that implements the progressive reforms in all spheres including education.

The international exhibition arranged at the Sergi Köşgi Exposition Centre in Ashgabat provided a platform for presenting innovative developments, advanced methods, software tools and training aids and the achievements of different countries of the world in the education sector. Foreign companies offered a wide spectrum of interactive, computer, laboratory and language laboratory equipment, training and demo materials and educational software.

Over 50 Turkmen educational institutions and private enterprises participated in the forum. Their expositions reflected the major achievements of the Turkmen education system and presented a wide spectrum of educational services rendered by governmental and private educational establishments in the spheres of vocational training, advanced training and occupational guidance.

The scientific conference on the academic, methodological and practical aspects was included the forum programme. During the four sections Turkmen scientists and specialists and their foreign counterparts exchanged experiences in the sphere of educational technologies and discussed the issues related to the development of innovative approaches to enhancing the quality and efficiency of education, applying scientific and technological advances in the education system and assisting in elaborating academic, information and technological projects.

It was noted that the increasing pace of dissemination of new knowledge and technologies in the global information space as well as the specifics of modern social development had caused the transition to new principles of education when emphasis is placed on continuous acquisition and application of knowledge and skills in practice. It is quite natural that today when Turkmenistan has reached a new historical stage, the fundamental education reforms are taking place along with the process of social and economic modernization. The new educational policy is based on the principles which combine the national spiritual values and experience as well as global achievements in this sphere.

The large-scale construction of new schools and preschool institutions, children’s and youth cultural and art centres supplied with modern equipment, training aids and educational technologies, which was launched during the first years of independence has become unprecedented today. The measures are taken in the country to compile and publish hundreds of modern learning aids and textbooks, strengthen the resource basis of educational institutions and improve the quality of the teaching and methodical processes to improve the quality of teaching and education. All of this is to facilitate creating the conditions conductive to integrated development of the younger generation and the success of the ongoing large-scale education reform a key priority of which is the concern about young citizens of our country.

Particular attention is paid to enhancing international cooperation with leading training centres all over the world, promoting an information exchange between the academic systems. Currently, dozens of programmes and agreements on cooperation in the education sector are being implemented jointly with leading training centres in Asia, Europe and America.

The educational reforms taking place in the country is to become one of the fundamental programmes for integrated development of the state and create personnel resources to promote social and economic progress, scientific and technological advance. The forum vividly illustrated the responsible approach that the Government of Turkmenistan took to building the competitive education system meeting modern requirements and integrating it into the global educational space. The key to the success of the education reform is an integrated approach which covers all aspects of this large-scale process starting from the strengthening of the material and technical basis to training of educational professionals.
