Mollagara is one of the oldest health resorts of Turkmenistan. It is located on the picturesque bank of ancient Uzboy. From time immemorial, in these places, the people underwent a mud and water cure, having uncommon healing properties. People composed a lot of legends about wonder-working power of life-giving water, magic of black like pitch, mud, which source was salty lake of miraculous Uzboy. Since drying up of riverbed of rough, full-flowing river in former times, much water has flowed under the bridge. But instead of the river, the nature left for people another its gift - healing Mollagara Lake.
The first health center was put into exploitation in these places in 1922. Then, in particular, it was received the patients with diseases of musculoskeletal system, nervous reproductive system. In 1988, it was opened spinal department. To opinion of balneologists and medical specialists, the most efficient remedy against many illnesses and diseases indisputably consist in healing properties of salty water and mud of Mollagara, which help the patients to recover and keep up the heath during many years. Miraculous reservoir changes its color twice a year: in winter, it has a blue tint and reddish – in summer. The water composition includes sodium chloride, potassium chloride and many other chemical elements and compounds. The lake is quite saturated with salt that pushes out the body of human being on water surface. Therefore, it is possible to read a newspaper in the lying position in the lake. Depth of the lake reaches three meters. Black mud covers the bottom and banks of the lake.
Drastic reformations took place in Mollagara in XXI century. July 2012 entered into history of the legendary resort as the date of the second birth. Sanatorium reconstructed and fitted with the latest technique and technologies has been put into exploitation. Solemn opening ceremony was held with personal participation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Multisectoral balneological resort of international class occupies nearly 33 hectares of area. There is ecologically pure exotic eastern landscape round the resort zone. The mirror-like surface of the lake sparkles with brilliant mine in gold setting of sands like a jewel created by the nature. Uniqueness of this part of the Turkmen land is in healing properties of everything – mud, water, sand, plants, growing in outskirts of Mollagara.
The complex of modern resort township includes the treatment corps for 500 patients, treatment-and-health center, solarium for 300 persons on the shore of the salty lake, diagnostic, children’s and other departments.
