During the April 15 videoconference, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid particular attention to the preparations for the upcoming Turkmen Horse Day. The Turkmen leader was informed on the measures taken to improve the quality of roads and highways leading to the venue of festive events and set up sculptures of horses on round junctions.
As was reported, the Turkmen leader approved the suggestion to entitle them "Atly aylaw” and “Polatly aylaw”.
The festivities on occasion of the Turkmen Horse Day that is widely celebrated throughout the country each year on the last Sunday of April have started. The marathon of cultural events has been launched with a festive vernisage opened at the exposition hall of the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan on April 15. The thematic exposition showcases the works presented at the contest announced by the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan among painters, sculptors, carpet weavers, jewelers, photographers and designers as well as TV specialists for the best image of Ahalteke horses.
Students of the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan will present their works at the Exposition Centre of the Academy on April 20, and the festive expositions entitles “Horses renowned all around the world” will be arranged in all museums and libraries of the country within next week.
The Central Scientific Library of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, which funds keep the unique editions dedicated to the history of the Ahalteke horse breed, will arrange a book exposition “My horse is my wings”. The important areas of modern scientific researches in this area will be considered during the conference dedicated to Ahalteke horses to be held in the institutions affiliated to the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
The cultural programme will be continued by theatrical performances dedicated to Turkmen horses to be arranged in all theatres of the country on April 22.
A scientific conference “Winged horses of the epoch of might and happiness” will bring together famous horse breeders, scientists and connoisseurs of Ahalteke horses as well as students – future specialists of the Turkmen horse breeding industry at the Turkmen Agricultural University on April 23.
In the morning on April 25, the Turkmen Atlary State Association will organize a horse marathon along the Kopetdag Avenue. The horse contest will be arranged at the International Equestrian Complex in the afternoon that day.
A final round of the creative contest among painters, sculptors, carpet weavers, jewelers, photographers and designers as well as TV specialists will take place at the Exposition Centre of the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan on April 25.
The III meeting of the International Associations of Ahalteke Horse Breeding headquartered in Ashgabat will take place at the Oguzkent Hotel on April 26. The main goal of the organization is to preserve the purity of the Ahalteke breed, improve its qualities and increase the number of ‘heavenly’ horses in the world. The forum will focus on the results of work done in this sphere, new programmes and projects as well as the plans for further cooperation between the association members. Numerous guests including members of the Association from many countries of the world, horse breeders, specialists and scientists from different countries as well as journalists representing leading news editions will come to the Turkmen capital to take part in the meeting.
A significant event of the programme of the Turkmen Horse Day celebrations includes an International Fair and V International Conference “Turkmen Horses and the Art of World Horse Breeding”, which will take place in the Ashgabat Exposition Centre on the same day.
On Saturday, April 27, the venue of the festive celebrations will be the Ahalteke Equestrian Complex that will host the final of the Beauty Contest among Ahalteke horses and the ceremony of awarding the winners of the creative contest.
On the last Sunday of April, traditional horse races and festive events will be held at the hippodromes of the country. A grandiose show including horse races with participation of famous jockeys and titled racers will take place at the International Equestrian Sports Complex.
