A complex of new social and economic facilities was put into operation in Garlyk village in Koitendag Etrap, Lebap Velayat.
A parade of architectural premiers has marked the completion of the first stage of construction of new Garlyk village launched by the President of Turkmenistan in February, 2011.
Today, two years later, Garlyk has appeared before the guests, including government officials of Turkmenistan and foreign guests as a modern settlement with the relevant urban-level infrastructure.
Among new facilities are a multimedia school designed for 320 pupils, sports school designed for 365 young sportsmen, a kindergarten for 160 children, Centre of Culture, administrative building of local authorities, Centre of Health and a complex of apartment houses. A monument was erected in Garlyk in memory of this remarkable event.
It should be noted that a trading complex, post office with communication centre designed for 500 numbers, motor transport terminal, a big park with amphitheater and branch bank – more than 17 objects were built there in compliance with the General Plan on development of Garlyk village. 250-kilometre Bagtyyarlyk-Garlyk gas pipeline will supply gas to Garlyk village.
New settlement will become a powerful base for industrial, social and cultural development of Lebap region, creation of favourable conditions for investment and innovative activity.
A cement plant with the annual capacity of one million tons of cement was put into operation nearby Garlyk village in February, 2013. Construction of the largest in Central Asia ore-dressing and processing potassium enterprise is closely related to the strategic plans on development of rich resources in Koitendag Etrap.
Thus, a new unit for the growth of the economy in the regions – the basis for future industrial development of the regions, creation of new jobs, incentives for development of production industries based on social infrastructure was laid in Garlyk. Tjis social aspect brings Turkmenistan to the first plan creating complex prerequisites for increasing production capacities and diversification of economy.
