Such words can be said by the participants of the actions held in these days and devoted to the World Blood Donor Day. As is known, by a good tradition already the seventh year in succession, the initiators of this action are the editorial board of newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan”, Ministry of Health and Medical industry of Turkmenistan, Information Center of Health and Blood Center with the assistance of the Turkmen State Publishing House and country office of the World Health Organization.
In this year, the action, being held under motto “Grant the life: be the blood donors”, took place in the Center of Free Creativity on June 11. Not only personnel of the editorial boards and publishing house, including officials of mass media, but also permanent out-of-staff authors of publications and their readers participated in it. With this view, a mobile blood reception post – a bus specially equipped as a laboratory, which has all essential things for reception of donor blood and for making the blood components, specially arrived to the place of voluntary donor action.
Commenting upon this event, the head of the country office of WHO in Turkmenistan Bagtygul Karriyeva has underlined that this donor action is a bright example of active participation of the society. The World Blood Donor Day, being annually celebrated on June 14 all over the world, allows improving the awareness in point of need in safe blood and its products, as well as for expression of gratitude to voluntary unpaid blood donors for their gift. Transfusion of blood and blood products annually allows saving the million lives. In this year, it is observed the 10th anniversary of the World Blood Donor Day. The action lasted several hours.
Having passed preliminary diagnosis and interlocution with doctors, the donors were going to the bus, where they were served by the experienced nurses, using up-to-date disposable instruments of blood intake. Speaking about reason of their participation in voluntary donor action, most of them underlined the confidence in the fact that they not only granted their blood, but also saved the life of somebody, helped to overcome disease. Free aid, which is the national Turkmen tradition, always provides a real satisfaction.
Most people showed interest in a good initiative. Jointly with the Ministry of Health and Medical industry of Turkmenistan, Information Center of Health and country office of the World Health Organization, the sportsmen also held their voluntary donor action in the capital’s stadium “Ashgabat” on June 13.
Today, the scientific-practical conference devoted to the voluntary donorship as well as issues of donor blood safety will be held in the Blood Center of the Management of Infectious Disease Centers of the Ministry of Health and Medical industry of Turkmenistan. Not only medical workers, but also “heroes” of the worldwide holiday – permanent donors will take part in it. These issues were also touched upon during numerous actions organized by the Ministry of Health and Medical industry of Turkmenistan jointly with international and social organizations these days all over the country.
