The two-day workshop has started its work in the framework of the joint project of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) “Enhancing Electoral System and Processes in Turkmenistan” this week. The forum agenda focuses on the international practices of women's involvement in parliament as election candidates.

UNDP international consultant Mr. Sabahudin Durguti made the presentations for the workshop participants, including the women candidates in the parliamentary elections representing the Democratic Party and the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

Exchange of views focused on the international experience and national practices of a number of EU countries, Asian countries and CIS states on the above issues in the context of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Turkmenistan. The workshop will continue its work tomorrow.
