Harvest Day celebrations took place throughout the country on the last Sunday of November. The venue for the celebrations was the equestrian sports centre in Ashgabat. The celebrations in honour of the heroes of the day – tenant farmers, machine operators, agricultural scientists, agronomists and other specialists, who profoundly contribute to the development of agriculture in the country – took place on the festively decorated square in front of the centre.
The cabinet ministers, the heads of the Mejlis, the heads of diplomatic representations and missions accredited in Turkmenistan, the representatives of ministries and departments, public organisations, mass media, the khyakimliks of the regions and Ashgabat, scientists, workers of culture and art, the elders, students and citizens and guests of Ashgabat attended the ceremony. Foreign guests, who had arrived in Ashgabat to participate in III International Cotton Trade Fair and the International Conference “Cotton Production in Turkmenistan and the World Market”, attended the ceremony. An exhibition of the achievements of Turkmenistan’s agro-industrial sector was arranged at the equestrian sports centre. The expositions of the ministries and departments introduced the product specimens of the cotton production, cotton processing, grain production and livestock sectors and the food and textile industries, elite seed varieties, the models of agricultural machines and state-of-the-art equipment.
The welcome statement of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Turkmen farmers and people of Turkmenistan was presented during the ceremony. The Turkmen leader emphasized that the agricultural reforms and consistent measures taken to develop the agricultural sector were aimed at ensuring an abundance of food products which allows increasing exports of Turkmenistan’s agricultural products to foreign markets.
A beautiful Ahalteke horse was presented on behalf of agro-industrial workers of our country to the President of Turkmenistan.
The ceremony participants adopted the Address to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in which they expressed sincere gratitude to the Turkmen leader for his unceasing concern for the agricultural sector.
Workers of culture and art presented a concert for the ceremony participants and guests. The horse races were held to mark the remarkable date at the equestrian sports centre. Winners received awards and prizes. The national TV channels broadcast the sporting events.
