Two-day forum organized by the OSCE Center in Ashgabat with assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan started its work in the capital’s “Grand Turkmen” Hotel. It is devoted to the international experience of on-line activity of mass media and legal regulation of Internet. Here, in the format of round-table meeting, it was held the discussion of prospects of further expansion of fruitful cooperation in the sphere of mass media.
The representatives of various ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, including the Parliament of the country, Ministries of Communication and Justice, Turkmen National Institute of Democracy and Human Rights at the President of Turkmenistan, State Committee for television, radio broadcasting and cinematography of Turkmenistan, personnel of the state mass media took part in the meeting.
At the seminar, the head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, Ambassador Ivo Petrov made an opening speech as well as the senior counselor of the Bureau of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Mikael Unland, director of the Institute of Media Law of Ukraine Taras Shevchenko, the dean of media communications faculty of “Higher school of economy” Anna Kachkayeva (Russian Federation) presented their reports as the invited international experts. They familiarized the participants with available international standards in the field of e-media, prospects of further development of media education, security of personal data in the Internet.
The forum will continue its work tomorrow.
