A regular meeting of the Interdepartmental commission for monitoring the implementation of the international human rights and humanitarian law commitments took place at the Turkmen National Institute on Democracy and Human Rights under the President of Turkmenistan. The meeting brought together the representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, a number of ministries and departments as well as public organizations, law-enforcement agencies of the country and journalists.
As is known, the work of this advisory interdepartmental agency that coordinates the work of the public authorities and governance to ensure the fulfillment of the international commitments on human rights undertaken by Turkmenistan is aimed at monitoring the national legislation and drafting proposals on implementation of the international law in this sphere.
The meeting agenda focused on the progress in implementing the National Programme for Early Childhood Development and School Readiness for 2011-2015 and the General Programme of Turkmenistan to develop the system of juvenile justice authorized by the relevant resolution of the President of Turkmenistan.
The meeting participants noted that adoption of those important documents vividly demonstrated the most responsible approach towards the protection of rights and interests of the younger generation, creation of the best conditions for children in our country that is prioritized by the state policy of Turkmenistan. The successful complex implementation of those programmes will contribute to education of physically healthy, spiritually and intellectually developed younger generation and strengthening the institute of family.
