Concluding press conference was held in headquarters of the Mission of observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States. In the course of the press conference, it was voiced the results of monitoring on preparation and holding of the elections of the deputies of Parliament of Turkmenistan of V convocation. Besides the representatives of national and foreign mass media, the members of the Central Commission for conduct of elections and referenda in Turkmenistan, velayat and capital’s election commissions, members of Mission of observers from OSCE and others also took part in press conference.
The head of Mission, chairman of the Executive Committee – Executive Secretary of CIS Sergey Lebedev made a speech before participants.
As it was noted, the headquarters of the Mission started the work in November of the current year. During free visit of the election districts of the capital and five provinces of the country, members of the Mission, which includes 68 observers from 9 countries, had perfect opportunity to get real notion about election campaign, estimate the level of training of members of divisional election committees and talk with candidates.
As S. Lebedev declared, voicing common opinion of observers from CIS, “Mission ascertains that election campaign was held in an organized manner and calm atmosphere. Public authorities, election commissions realized practical measures aimed at securing the right of voters to make free election on the voting day. At that, the elections on December 15, 2013 were held in accordance with the Constitution and Election Code of Turkmenistan. These elections corresponded to universally recognized democratic norms and were open, public and provided free expression of will of the country’s citizens”.
