The New Year’s tree in Ashgabat lit up with myriads of colourful lights. This year the venue for the New Year is the square in front of the Monument to the Constitution where the tallest and most beautiful New Year’s tree in the country and a fairytale town have sprung up. The New Year’s festivities involving popular musicians, theatre artist, young singers and favourite fairytale heroes will take place there from today.
Young citizens from all regions of Turkmenistan, folk and dance groups and theatre and circus artists dressed in carnival costumes stand around the evergreen beauty – the New Year’s tree decorated with colourful toys and beads, firecrackers, sparkling tinsel, lights and garlands waiting for Ayaz baba and his granddaughter Garpamyk.
Accompanied by artful dzhigits riding beautiful Ahalteke horses, the phaeton with Ayaz baba, Garpamyk and their friends heads to the Monument to the Constitution. Travelling along the route developed by the organizers, all participants of the show can see new buildings in the Turkmen capital which is vivid evidence for the tireless efforts and unceasing concern of the leader of the Turkmen state for the health, education, integrated development and recreation of young citizens of our country.
Wonderful buildings of schools and kindergartens, the State Puppet Theatre and the World of Turkmen Fairytales amusement park, the Children’s World entertainment and shopping centre and the winter sports complex are included in the ‘programme’ of this journey which young citizens of the Turkmen capital invite their fairytale friends to take. The spectators of the festivities are numerous guests and people of the Turkmen leader who joyfully greet the carnival procession on the way to the New Year’s tree.
Then the bright carnival procession appears on the square in front of the main New Year’s tree of the country. The show involving theatre artists from all over the country, young musicians and dancers of the Children’s and Youth Palace, art schools and popular singers and children’s dance group from Ashgabat starts in the fairytale town. Children dressed in colourful costumes greeted with merry songs and poems.
Ayaz baba waves a wand and the beautiful New Year’s tree starts to sparkle as children wish. After that the New Year’s trees on the main squares in towns and villages of our country light up with colourful lights where the New Year festivities take place, poems and music are heard and happy children sing and dance in a ring. The first show around the main New Year’s tree of the country is concluded with a big concert of the children’s chorus and popular singers who perform merry songs.
