A meeting held in the Turkmen capital within the framework of the joint project of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda in Turkmenistan and the UNDP project of Enhancing Electoral System and Processes in Turkmenistan focused on the exchange of international experience in the election system.

The roundtable meeting taken place in the conference hall of the Central Election Committee brought together the election committee members, specialists of the Central Election Committee as well as representatives of the political parties, public organizations and journalists.

Speaking during the meeting, UNDP International Expert Ms. Renata Lapti underlined the important task of the consultations in providing assistance in establishing a training centre with the aim to prepare for and hold elections, develop and introduce the strategy of training on the long-tern and systematic basis.

The meeting participants discussed the key priorities in the processor development of the methodological materials and training programmes for the preparations and organization of elections. Particular attention was paid to the accumulated experience of close cooperation of the Central Election Committee, political parties of our country, the leading public organizations, national journalists, local observers in the preparations for and holding elections of all levels.
