A seminar was organized in the framework of the joint project “Enhancing Electoral system and processes in Turkmenistan” of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan and the UN Development Programme at the Grand Turkmen Hotel in Ashgabat.
Seminar participants represented the Mejlis, the Turkmen National Institute for Democracy and Human Rights under the President of Turkmenistan, political parties, public organisations and the media.
During the seminar held in an interactive format, international experts Ms. Natia Kashakashvili and Mr. Paul Kabachenko provided an overview of the practices used in foreign countries to raise awareness about the electoral processes and procedures of multiparty election.
In their turn, Turkmen specialists made presentations of the national practices in organising and holding elections at various levels to foreign seminar participants. The issues related to increasing participation of women in electoral processes as candidates, national observers and election commission members were discussed during the seminar.
