The conference “Diplomacy of Peace, Cooperation and Development” was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to mark the 5th anniversary of the institution of the professional holiday – Diplomats’ Day of Turkmenistan.
The forum brought together the heads of diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited in Turkmenistan, diplomats of Turkmenistan in foreign countries, lecturers and students of higher educational institutions, among others.
In his welcoming address to participants of the conference President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed belief that the positive experience of Turkmen diplomacy would serve as an important factor for the effective implementation of the tremendous potential of the status of neutrality to strengthen the foundations of peace, security and sustainable development on a regional and global scale and build effective mechanisms for international cooperation.
Those speaking at the conference emphasized that the fundamental principles of the foreign policy doctrine of the Turkmen state were aimed particularly at solving global and regional problems by peaceful, political and diplomatic means and ensuring the welfare and safety of the modern world and promoting good neighbourly relations between states and nations and mutual enrichment of cultures.
Diplomas were awarded to young diplomats and senior students of the Institute of International Relations of Turkmenistan for their contribution to pursuing the foreign policy strategy of the Turkmen state.
An exhibition of the works of applied and decorative arts presented by the diplomatic representations of foreign countries accredited in Turkmenistan was arranged in dedication to the anniversary of the institution of the professional holiday of Turkmen diplomats in the festively decorated foyer of the Institute of International Relations. The expositions organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan jointly with the diplomatic missions of foreign countries accredited in our country served as some kind of a brief and bright excursion into the historical and cultural heritage of different nations.
Volleyball matches among diplomatic officials accredited in our country were held in the framework of the anniversary celebrations in honour of Diplomats’ Day of Turkmenistan. The ceremony of awarding the winners took place at the sports complex of the Institute of International Relations. Popular singers and dance groups performed a concert in the conference hall of the Institute to mark the professional holiday of Turkmen diplomats.
