Today, it was held the meeting of the Central Committee for elections and referendums in Turkmenistan devoted to the issues of preparation for upcoming elections of deputies of the national parliament – Mejlis and members of local government – Gengeshes instead of retired. Members of the Central Election Committee, workgroups created at the Central Election Committee, national observers represented by the political parties and social organizations of the country, mass media took part in it.
In accordance with the Resolution of Parliament of Turkmenistan, this important socio-political action was scheduled for April 20 of the current year. In this connection, a decision on beginning of the election campaign was made in the course of this meeting. According to article 44 of the Electoral Code, since this moment, it is started the nomination of candidates and upon completion of registration, it will be started the agitation campaign. According to the existing legislation, the election commissions as well as relevant local executive authorities and local government, heads of enterprises, institutions are entrusted to organize the meetings and assemblies of the candidates with the voters.
