Etraps, villages, avenues, streets and a great number of farmers’ associations in the country are named after Magtymguly. One of them is located in Akbugday etrap of Akhal province.

Here they grow grain, and cotton, and at that already for four years they become the first to fulfill the state production plan for these agricultural crops. They have grape yards and they have plots under vegetables and fruit trees. Close attention is attached to cattle breeding as well.
Tenant famers of the farmers’ association named after Magtymguly are proud that are predecessors of ancient land cultivators. Namely here in 1904 during the archaeological excavations grains of white wheat dating to five thousand years were discovered. Ancestors of Turkmens inhabiting the territory yet in the VII-VI millenniums BC grew wheat here.
Today these traditions are followed worthily. In the household named after Magtymguly last year cultivators grew 4429 tons of wheat of species like Batko, Sakhrayi, and Turkmenbashy-1. The leaseholder Begenchmyrat Orazberdiyev was a record maker in cultivation of wheat. From 8.5 hectares of land he produced over 54 tons of high class Turkmen wheat and gained a high yield of 63.5 centners per hectare. Young peasants learn this experience but experienced farmers do not want to yield their position. And this year they plan to gain more high result. The condition of wheat fields also attest to the optimistic report of leaseholders.
At present, 1500 hectares of land are under wheat. Strong sprouts of wheat have passed severe cold well. Now residents of Magtymguly association are busy carrying out agro-technical measures in the field. They irrigate, clean, fertilize and do any other necessary activities in the fields.
The success of cotton growers of the Magtymguly farmers’ association is no less impressive. In 2013 they were one of the first in the province to fulfill their state production plan for raw cotton. Last year they produced 1480 tons of raw cotton over fulfilling their state production plan by 42, 4 %.
The best cotton growers gained 58-59 centners per hectare. At the top of heroes of cotton growers in not only the farmers ‘association but in the province for 2013 is leaseholder Annaoraz Annamyradov. He was one of the first to fulfill his state production plan for “white gold” and was awarded costly gifts at the solemn ceremony of “A white caravan” in Akhal province. Only by the outcome of handpicked cotton he fulfilled his contractual obligation. And in the entire season he produced over 76 tons of raw cotton and fulfilled his production plan by 191 %. It is not less important that raw cotton produced by the leaseholder will be processed for seeds. Such high index –the result of high and diligent work, his careful and considerate attention, endeavor and high experience.
Nowadays residents of Magtymguly farmers’ association work with great enthusiasm in the fields laid out for the cotton harvest of 2014. Everything is ready to sow cotton over 560 hectares of land with a cotton variety of Yoloten-1. By contractual obligations the farmers; association should produce almost 1100 tons of raw cotton.
Over 24 hectares of land are under vine yards of the farmers’ association. They mainly grow a variety of “Tayfi”. They also cultivate other species of grape. Part of grape is sent to residents of the province and Ashgabat city, the bulk is sent to the distillery for processing. Sericulture is a special pride of peasants. Last year residents of Magtymguly farmers’ association produced 1435 kilograms of cocoon of mulberry over fulfilling their contractual obligations. With every passing year the number of cattle grows in the farmers’ association. Last year cattle breeders during lambing campaign produced 5000 lambs and goats, 65 calves and 43 camels. At present, they have 10172 sheep and goats, 155 camels, over 320 cattle.
