On April 1, ornithologists of the world mark International Day of Birds. On this day workers of the Gaplangyr Nature Reserve of the Ministry of Nature Protection of Turkmenistan traditionally visit schoolchildren of a number of secondary schools of Dashoguz to talk of the importance of protection of birds, wonderful representatives of our animal life, and of the beauty of our native land. Groups of schoolchildren with ecologists go to the outskirts of the country where not far from the center of the velayat tugai groves are located.

Here like ornithologists, the children observe and take photos of birds, workers of the nature park deliver short lectures and tell them of species of birds inhabiting Turkmenistan.

In the territory of the Gaplangyr Nature Reserve, the planned observation and register of migration and arrival of water birds are carried out these spring days. In the north, ducks and other water birds still come and some predatory birds settle. Arrival of various species of birds to gather food and to rest continues from late February.
