The banks of the Karakum River was the main venue of the festive celebrations taken place throughout the country on occasion of the national holiday "A Drop of Water - A Grain of Gold". The holiday with its bright national color reflects the unique traditions of the Turkmen people who have carefully treated water as a priceless gift for many centuries of their history.
The festive celebrations started with the international, scientific and cultural events dedicated to this wonderful holiday. The contest among inventors held at the Turkmen Agricultural University brought together scientific workers of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, specialists of the Turkmensuvylymtaslama Institute, students and teachers of the Agricultural University and the International Oil and Gas University. The Coordination Committee for the National Water Policy of Turkmenistan held a regular meeting in the conference hall of the President Hotel in Ashgabat with participation of the heads and experts of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.
The exhibition of the agricultural products, the state-of-the-art equipment and technologies was arranged within the framework of the festive programme. The regional subdivisions of the water industry of the country showcased the draft designs of water facilities, biological methods of cleaning water, etc. High-performance equipment produced by the world leading manufacturers that regularly replenish the modern fleet of the water industry of our country was also demonstrated at the exhibition.
The colorful exposition of works of sculptors, painters and jewelers, including well-known masters and young talents, reflected the Turkmen people's careful treatment of water. Young Turkmen sportsmen arranged festive demonstrative performances on the bank of the river.
In the framework of the holiday, all those present took part in the ceremony of planting young trees in the new park on the banks of the Karakum River.
The guests to the holiday were treated with the Turkmen national dishes.
