The ceremony of awarding the monetary awards and valuable presents to war veterans and widows of those dead on the battles of fight on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan took place in the Palace of Mekans and in theaters in the regions on occasion of the 69th anniversary of the Great Victory in World War II. The festive event was organized jointly by the Central Council of the War Veterans Organization of Turkmenistan, the Political Council of the Democratic Party, public organizations, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Culture, Khyakimliks of Ashgabat and regions.
The Victory Day is traditionally celebrated in the country as one of the brightest, joyful and dearest to all people holidays. Exhibitions, theatrical performances, concerts, conferences, meetings with war veterans, widows and families of fallen soldiers as well as other cultural events are organized throughout the country - at enterprises, institutions, ministries and departments, military units and border units and in schools.
Heads and representatives of public organizations, Ashgabat Khyakimlik, higher educational institutions and schools, workers of culture and art as well as numerous Ashgabat citizens gathered together in the Palace of Mekans to pay tribute to the heroism and valor, bow to gray-haired heroes of war and labour and congratulate them on the great holiday.
On behalf of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, monetary awards and wonderful bouquets of spring flowers were awarded to the heroes of the celebrations.
The meeting continued with a concert program performed by best artistic groups of the Turkmen capital and popular singers. Patriotic songs glorifying the independent country and its brave people were dedicated to the heroes of the Fatherland.
The conference "The life of teacher, solder, and man respected by his compatriots Berdimuhammed Annaev is a high example of courage, hard work and patriotism" started the events held in the country on occasion of the Victory Day. The conference took place in school 27 named after Berdimuhammed Annaev, which is located in the Yzgant village in Geoktepe Etrap, Ahal Velayat, on May 1. As is known, this school named after the grandfather of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov - heroic man, soldier and teacher, who earned the compatriots' respect by his diligent labour and life - serves as a methodical centre and venue for important social and patriotic events. A scientific and practical conference "Example of life of Berdimuhammed Annaev in formation of a harmonious personality in the epoch of might and happiness" was organized in the school on May 5.
